There are a lot of plastic tableware and kitchenware, including knives and forks, bowls, chopsticks, cutting boards, dishes, fresh boxes, etc. at present, some of these products are made of TPE materials. In this regard, many consumers will come up with the idea of whether the plastic tableware and kitchenware made by TPE will be harmful to human body and what's the difference between TPE and silicone.
Answer the first question first. TPE is a green non-standard soft rubber material, which is used to produce tableware and kitchenware. Food grade materials need to go through many test standards before they can be used in production, such as RoHS, reach test, 3% acetic acid test, VOC volatiles test standard and 50% alcohol test. For these tests, TPE materials can pass. In addition, no toxic additives and bisphenol A are added in the process of material processing.
The above shows that TPE materials can be used in the production of plastic kitchenware and tableware, but it should be added that TPE products can not be used in the environment with temperature resistance above 120 ℃ or in contact with oily substances. In other words, the oven and microwave oven can not be used to heat TPE products, which will cause the instability of the molecular structure of the product itself, that is, the volatilization of molecular substances. Such a limitation makes this material generally used for products such as chopping board, vegetable basin, chopsticks, baby spoon, ice lattice, shovel, etc. This kind of product can be disinfected with boiling water, without safety concerns, and will not be harmful to human body, so it can be used safely.
Next answer the second question, what is the difference between TPE and silica gel. First of all, they are both food grade materials, which can be used in the production of kitchenware and tableware. The differences are as follows:
① silica gel is a high temperature resistant material, which can withstand high temperature of 250 ℃, that is to say, the microwave oven can heat the silica gel container containing food, which TPE can't do temporarily;
② silica gel can be tested by FDA n-hexane and lfgb olive oil, and the tableware can be contacted with oily substances, which TPE can not do temporarily;
③ where TPE is superior to silica gel, at present, only TPE processing efficiency is higher than silica gel, the raw material price is relatively low, and the material can also be recycled, while silica gel can not be reused due to vulcanization and other reasons.

If the manufacturer needs to produce high-temperature tableware and kitchenware, the silica gel material should be used; if the product does not need to be heated frequently, TPE raw material can be used for production, with advantages and disadvantages.
